The Moatize Expansion Project, a Vale project carried out by Odebrecht in Tete – Mozambique, certified 75 Members in Scaffolding on January 30th. The initiative was a partnership between the SSTMA and Production areas and the training promoted by SIQAS (Integrated Systems for Quality, Environment and Safety, unipessoal, Lda.).
Members have accumulated knowledge and experience in 16 hours of theoretical classes and 8 hours of field practice. Among the themes worked on are first aid basics, procedures, safety measures, task risk analysis, work permission, correct use of PPE’s (personal protective equipment) and EPC’s (collective protective equipment) and assembly and disassembly of scaffolding.
Coubert Nascimento, from Vale’s OH&S team, congratulated the initiative. “Our legacy for Mozambicans is knowledge. You have had new learnings and with them come new challenges and responsibilities. Working at heights is one of the main risks in Civil Construction, you must always think about safety and life first” , said.
The HSTMA and Production management of the Moatize Expansão Project delivered the certificates to the members and reinforced the performance in partnership with a focus on the ZERO Accident goal. “Our responsibility is with the safety and health of our members and our commitment is to life. We will work together, with commitment and commitment, in search of better results”, said Angelo Araújo, Production Manager.
